Bridge Repairs on U.S. 421 over U.S. 76 in Brunswick County Require Closures

Motorists who travel on U.S. 421 south of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge should expect lane closures beginning Tuesday, Aug. 22. The closures are needed so the Department of Transportation can repair a metal guardrail that was damaged by a recent crash.

The closures will be in place Tuesday night, Aug. 22 and Wednesday night, Aug. 23 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. One lane will remain open for traffic in each direction.

There won’t be any detours during the closures; however, transportation officials urge motorists to slow down, and be especially careful when driving through the work zone.
