Steve Candler, who has served on the Brunswick County Planning Board for a number of years, recently stepped down due to a job change that requires him to move out of the area.  Steve most recently served as chairman of the planning board, as well as serving as chairman of the Brunswick County Small Business Advisory Commission.  At last night’s meeting we recognized Steve for his service and leadership.  He will be missed.

Also at last night’s meeting, Mike Polychrones was appointed to fill the District 5 planning board vacancy created by Steve’s resignation.  I met with three very qualified individuals who were interested in the position, and I greatly appreciate each of their interest in serving our great county.  I believe Michael has the expertise, insight and perspective to serve us well on the planning board.  Additionally, he lives in unincorporated Brunswick County and therefore lives in an area that falls under the county’s zoning jurisdiction.  I look forward to working with him.
