Changes coming to Brunswick County’s Online GIS Application

BOLIVIA, NC – Brunswick County is transitioning to a new GIS (Geographic Information System) online application, and citizens can try out the new system in advance of its official launch.

Brunswick County’s current GIS online application, or online mapping tool, is still available for those who prefer to use it. However, the new application is available as well, and citizens trying it out can email gis@brunswickcountync.gov with questions or feedback about the new site, prior to the County’s official transition to the new application.

Brunswick County’s previous online GIS application was developed in-house a number of years ago. The application was very functional, but with changes that have occurred in technology since that time, the new application will operate consistently across different web browsers, and will help staff quickly provide tools and other services, like custom maps, using GIS data.

Brunswick County will likely officially transition to the new application Dec. 9; those wishing to continue using the current GIS application will be able to do so for a limited time, though the data in that application will no longer be updated. Any questions can be emailed to gis@brunswickcountync.gov.
