Courthouse, Schools closed Tuesday; Brunswick Government Offices opening at 11
BOLIVIA, N.C. — Brunswick County government offices, including the Library branches and Landfill, will open at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, and the Brunswick County Courthouse and Court sessions will remain closed the entirety of the day.
Brunswick County Schools will remain closed Tuesday for students and staff. Additionally, the Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 6 has been canceled.
Brunswick County employees who are not able to safely get to work Tuesday morning should plan to stay home, take leave time and communicate their concerns with their supervisor.
Employees and residents alike should remember to never try to drive through standing or running water on roads, and that the flooding has the potential to damage roads. Do not try to drive through roads that have been barricaded or closed, even if it appears the water has receded. Allow extra driving time and be alert. Updates on road conditions are posted at www.facebook.com/brunswicksheriff.
Anyone who evacuated due to flooding should also take safety precautions once the rain stops and water beings to recede. Residents re-entering homes that have been flooded should be mindful of the potential for damage as well as electrical wires and systems that may have been exposed to water.
