Starting Monday, Aug. 10, and ending Thursday, Aug. 20, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close the right lane in both directions on the U.S. 17/421 Thomas Rhodes Bridge over the Northeast Cape Fear River in Wilmington. Motorists will see a new flashing signal at the intersection of N.C.133 and Blackwell Road in Belville starting Tuesday, Aug. 4 as the N.C. Department of Transportation prepares to fully activate the new traffic signal the following week, weather permitting. The new signal is expected to improve safety by controlling traffic at the N.C.133 and Blackwell Road intersection. Today the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act (H.R. 427) by a vote of 243 to 165.
