Progress continues on water main bypass; residents can sign up for notifications; conservation continues
Crews are nearing the final steps of work on a bypass around the break in a water main that carries water from the Kings Bluff Pump Station to water treatment plants.
Crews have started making a tap at one line stop (where the bypass will connect to the water main), and will be moving on to the second line stop shortly. If work continues to progress without encountering any problems, the bypass could be placed in service over the weekend.
Once the bypass is placed in service, crews will monitor to make sure water flows to treatment plants as expected before any changes are made to water usage restrictions. Crews will begin working to repair the water main after the bypass is operational. At this time, Brunswick County remains at a Stage 2 Water Emergency, and conservation measures remain in place.
When changes are made to water usage restrictions, Brunswick County will notify its customers by use of the CodeRED system, email list serve, social media, website and media.
