Statement on OMB’s decision not to move Brunswick County back into the Wilmington MSA

My thoughts on the Office of Management and Budget’s decision to leave Brunswick County in the Myrtle Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA):

“I am extremely disappointed by the Office of Management and Budget’s decision to reject bipartisan appeals to move Brunswick County back into the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).  This is what happens when decisions are made by federal bureaucrats who live hundreds of miles away and know absolutely nothing about our area.  The vast majority of Brunswick County is much more aligned with the Wilmington area than the Myrtle Beach area.  While this could have the potential to adversely impact our ability to recruit new business and industry to Brunswick County, I am confident that we will succeed in spite of this unfortunate decision.”
