Traffic Alert: Nighttime Lane Closures on NC 211 in Southport at the intersection of NC 87 (to the Ferry Terminal)

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will continue nighttime lane closures on NC 211 in Southport (at the intersection of NC 87 to the Ferry Terminal) through Sunday January 31, 2016 (excluding the Christmas & New Year Holidays). The work will be performed from 7:00pm to 6:00am, Sunday through Friday each week, for milling and resurfacing, weather permitting.

During the work, no on-street parking will be allowed within the work zone and towing will be enforced.

According to NCDOT, the existing pavement is in need of repair and rehabilitation. The milling operation will remove the existing pavement which is damaged and deteriorated and will be replaced with new pavement. Once completed, this will improve the rideability and increase visibility with new traffic markings on the roadway. Motorists will be directed by a flagger and portable message signs, with one lane remaining open at all times.

Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
