Traffic Alert: Road Closures on Mt. Misery Road Dec. 4th – 14th
The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close SR 1426 (Mt. Misery Road, NE) in both directions one mile north of US 74/76 (Andrew Jackson Highway) beginning Friday, December 4th at 6 p.m. until Monday, December 14th, at 7 a.m., weather permitting. The existing pipeline located under the roadway is being replaced in conjunction with the construction of I-140 from US 74/76 (Andrew Jackson Highway) to SR 1430 (Cedar Hill Road).
SR 1426 (Mt. Misery Rd) will only be open to local traffic that is located South of the CSX rail road tracks at the intersection of SR 1426 (Mt. Misery Rd) and SR 1455 (Lincoln Road), and North of the rail road tracks at the intersection of SR 1426 (Mt. Misery Rd) and SR 1430 (Cedar Hill Rd) with the following detour:
– Southbound Detour: Take SR 1430 (Cedar Hill Rd) to SR 1432 (Old Mill Road) to SR 1455 (Lincoln Rd)
– Northbound Detour: Take SR 1455 (Lincoln Rd) to SR 1432 (Old Mill Rd) to SR 1430 (Cedar Hill Rd)
This work is part of the I-140 (Wilmington Bypass Project) which began March 3rd, 2014 and is scheduled to be open to traffic November 2017 with a total completion date of April 2018. The project will improve safety and reduce congestion in this area.
Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area, and expect delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
