Brunswick Housing Opportunities hosting “Home SAFE” Info Session on Apr. 8

Brunswick Housing Opportunities BHOBrunswick Housing Opportunities (BHO) is holding an information session on its Home SAFE Initiative at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 8. The information session will be held at the Brunswick Electric Membership Corp. training room, located at 795 Ocean Highway in Supply.  Breakfast will be provided.

The Home SAFE Initiative is intended to help aging adults and veterans stay in their home by completing necessary safety and health repairs.  BHO needs volunteers with basic to advanced carpentry skills to assist with projects such as repairing a porch, hanging sheetrock, fixing a floor, installing a door or building a ramp.  Other volunteer needs include painting and yard clean-up.

The current median age in Brunswick County is 49, with more than 18% of seniors living in poverty. Brunswick Housing Opportunities began completing home repairs in 2007 in order to reduce substandard housing in Brunswick County and joined the state-wide Home SAFE Initiative in September 2015.
