Williams attends first meeting as a National Association of Counties board member
LELAND, N.C. – Brunswick County Commissioner Frank Williams attended his first meeting as a member of the National Association of Counties (NaCo) board of directors in Sonoma County, CA last month. Williams was unanimously elected to one of North Carolina’s two designated seats on the national board at the NaCo annual conference last summer.
“Serving on the national board provides a tremendous opportunity to ensure that Brunswick County and North Carolina have a voice on the national level,” said Williams. “I look forward to opportunities to share our county’s perspective on federal issues and learn from the other county officials who serve on the national board.”
While in Sonoma County, Williams and other attendees toured areas devastated by the 2017 Tubbs fire, which burned over 36,000 acres, destroyed more than 5,600 structures, and left 22 dead. Williams had the opportunity to learn how Sonoma County improved its resilience and response capabilities in the wake of the fire as well as to meet with survivors whose homes were destroyed.
