Brunswick County Distribution Site, Recovery Updates
Sept. 23, 2018 — Recovery from Hurricane Florence continues in Brunswick County as some distribution sites close and others prepare to open, the curfew for unincorporated areas ends and a burning ban remains in place, and County offices prepare to reopen as work to repair utility lines continues.
Distribution Sites
All four Brunswick County distribution sites will operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, distributing water and food. The sites include:
- Spring Lake Park (210 Pine Road in Boiling Spring Lakes)
- Northwest District Park (1937 Andrew Jackson HWY NE in Leland)
- South Brunswick Middle School (100 Cougar Drive, Boiling Spring Lakes)
- Town Creek Park (6420 Ocean Highway East in Winnabow)
After Sunday, Sept. 23, these distribution sites will close.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 24, citizens in the affected areas may continue to get water and MREs (Meals, Ready-to-Eat) at certain fire departments:
- Boiling Spring Lakes Volunteer Fire Department (3059 George II Hwy in Boiling Spring Lakes)
- Northwest Fire Department (5029 Northwest Road in Northwest)
- Navassa Volunteer Fire Department (336 N. Main Street in Navassa)
- Waccamaw Volunteer Fire Department (4045 Whiteville Road NW in Ash)
- Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department (161 Governors Road SE in Winnabow)
Donations and Volunteers
Brunswick Family Assistance continues to coordinate donations and volunteer efforts in Brunswick County. Those wishing to donate or volunteer should contact Brunswick Family Assistance at 910-754-4766.
Curfew Ends; Burning Ban Still In Place
Unincorporated areas of Brunswick County will be under a curfew from midnight until dawn Monday, Sept. 24. The curfew will end Monday morning.
A burning ban remains in place for all unincorporated areas of Brunswick County in the wake of Hurricane Florence. All burning within 100 feet of a structure is banned, to allow Brunswick County to focus first responders and resources on hurricane recovery efforts. The ban will remain in place until further notice.
Unincorporated areas are areas not in a city or town.
Utilities Updates
Water service has been restored to all areas of the Brunswick County Public Utilities distribution system, including Boiling Spring Lakes and River Mist. A system pressure advisory remains in place for the areas of Southport, St. James, Boiling Spring Lakes, Caswell Beach, the Long Beach Road area and the George II Highway area until further written notice.
Customers who find they have no water service should first check to make sure their shut-off valves are on and that they have no damage to their plumbing. If after checking those things customers still have no water, they should contact Brunswick County Public Utilities

County Offices Re-Open Monday, With Some Changes
Brunswick County government offices, including parks and libraries, will open on a regular schedule Monday, Sept. 24, with some offices temporarily relocating due to damage from Hurricane Florence.
Tax Administration will be relocating to 101 Stone Chimney Road in Supply. The License Plate Agency and Tax Collections will relocate to the Utility Billing office in Building I on the government complex. The License Plate Agency will not re-open Monday, Sept. 24; a reopening date will be announced as soon as it is available.
County Building Inspections, located in Building I on the county complex, will open a satellite office at the Leland Town Hall beginning Monday morning.
